A Message to the Community from Our Board of Directors
What We Do and How You Can Help
What We Do and How You Can Help
Dear Beloved Community,
You probably know and see us as the Thrift Shop, which we are. However, what we do goes much deeper than most folks see. We are a central hub for the redistribution and sharing of local resources. Our thrift shop and online store give new life to lightly used items, turning one person's gift into another person's treasure.
Since 1952, CommunityWorx has been redistributing local treasures and breaking down barriers to opportunities for everyone in our community, especially those who have been historically left out. We are all about helping folks grow personally and gain work skills, focusing on those who have faced systemic challenges. The world calls it Workforce Development. We call it caring and working for our community, which is why we changed our name to CommunityWorx in 2019.
We partner with other organizations to provide clothing, furniture, and other necessities to those who need these things most, at no cost to them. Today, we are asking for your generous support to keep our mission going.
With over seven decades of growth and service, our campus is home to both CommunityWorx and our collaborative co-working community space known as YouthWorx on Main. At YouthWorx on Main, we provide a home, support, and resources to build capacity for more than ten smaller local nonprofits. Each can attest to the benefits and impacts of the resources and support provided by CommunityWorx.
Despite our growth, COVID-19 hit us hard. We have been able to endure turbulent economic times in the past. Now, we need your help! Still reeling from the effects of unexpected prolonged global shutdowns, we now find ourselves facing foreclosure. But it's not over yet! We still have a chance, and again, we need your help.
Please consider making a special gift to CommunityWorx today. Your support means the world to us (literally). You can save CommunityWorx with a gift that feels special to you.
We are grateful for your support.
